I’ve started writing a textbook for Intro to Abstract Algebra! You can check it out here (in-progress, published incrementally).
The first chapter is a primer that only needs a bit of high-school algebra, and it is meant to answer the question of “what is abstract algebra and where does it apply?” Beyond that, the text assumes generally a prerequisite of precalculus as well as comfortability with proofs and mathematical rigor — it goes into more detail on what is assumed.
This is hosted on my GitHub Pages site. I explain here the rationale for this choice of hosting platform (and probably for any future textbook projects too.)
